Hi Stu.

The Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program, as well as the reduced rates for Agricultural Land and Conservation Lands have taken a substantial portion of property tax revenue from Municipalities.

With the provincial elections coming up, i wonder what issues the citizens of North Hastings have with the province? Ones i've heard about are - the downloading of the cost of maintaining Hwy 62, the lack of compensation for revenue lost to the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program and the cost of policing.

This Municipality (Hamlet of Birds Creek) is a Community with a strong sense of its own identity, character and traditions. In its own way it is unique in Greater Hastings Highland. Bird's Creek has a wealth of housing styles, old and new, from the grand to the modest, well preserved and often designed by distinguished architects creating a rich legacy of heritage.
As our Municipality explore options for development in the hamlet through the preparation of a Secondary Plan, it is critical that specific aspects of the work will look at the natural environment, transportation, trails, and community/urban design making allocation right of ways connecting to exciting jogging, walking and bicycling trail. example: Heritage trail connecting to downtown Bancroft / Bird's Creek Park Trail. All of which have been completed this year.
A wealth of opportunities can derive by implementing jogging, walking and bicycling into our planning process and encourage all stakeholders to participate in the process.
The Secondary Plan is based on a “Healthy Hamlet” approach to ensure that Bird’s Creek is a great place to live, work, and play.

Enjoy your walks,
